Accessibility

How to use this site with larger text, in dark mode, with a keyboard or with a screen reader. Reviewed November 1, 2026.

Our goal

We want everyone to be able to use NewMexicoMedicare.org, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, a magnifier or larger text. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Change the text size or switch to dark mode

Select the Aa button at the top of any page (on a phone, open the menu) to choose:

  • Text size: Standard, Larger or Largest.
  • Appearance: Automatic (follows your device’s light or dark setting), Light or Dark.

Your choice is saved in this browser only and is not sent to us. Your browser’s own zoom (Ctrl and + on Windows, ⌘ and + on a Mac) also works on every page.

What we have done

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline on the link or button you are on, and a “Skip to main content” link at the top.
  • Pages use headings and landmarks (header, main content, footer) so screen readers can move around them.
  • Text and buttons meet WCAG contrast ratios in both light and dark mode, and links inside text are underlined.
  • Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative ones, such as the balloons, are hidden from screen readers.
  • Forms have labels, and errors are announced in words, not only in color.
  • The whole site is available in Spanish: select ES at the top of any page.

How we check

We test pages with automated accessibility checks (axe-core) and by hand with a keyboard, in light and dark mode and in English and Spanish. We last reviewed the site on November 1, 2026.

Known limits

  • Links to other websites, including Medicare.gov, MedicareAgents.com and PlanMatchMedicare.com, lead to sites with their own accessibility.
  • The call-request form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to stop automated messages. It usually needs nothing from you; if it asks for a check you can’t complete, please call us instead.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, please call 505-MEDICARE (505-633-4227), TTY 711 (TTY 711). A licensed insurance agent can give you the same information by phone, and we will work to fix the page. You can also write to Benefits Life, Inc., 1616 17th Street, Suite 464, Denver, CO 80202.
